Evaluation of Preliminary: Question 6

Evaluate Your Contribution to the Group's Work

As this was our preliminary task and none of us had experienced using the equipment or editing programme we thought it would be best to allow everyone to have ago in each area, allowing us each to have knowledge of how everything works.

My main role in this process was filming and editing, this is because due to our plot is was best to have two male characters. I did not mind this, even though I do drama I always like to sit back and allow someone who is new to acting have ago. I enjoyed the filming aspect of the piece and would very much like to do this in the main task. One thing I would need to learn in the filming area is how to set the focus as a few shots we're out of focus causing it to be blurry.
I also enjoyed the editing process as you can see the whole piece coming together and are able to add things in enhancing how the shots look. Another reason I enjoyed this process was because each of us had ago and I felt this brought us together as a group as we took on each others ideas and tried to input each one of them. The main input I had during the editing was adding the audio and adjusting this, which I now know is too quiet, therefore for the main task I shall have to look at this in more depth to gain a greater understanding. I enjoyed adding the effects to the video as it made the shots transitions a lot smoother and you could see the final piece forming, in the main task I would like to experiment with new, exciting and advanced effects.

As I like to be organised and like things to be ready, I was the one who arranged the after school sessions, as a group we could see that we were not being productive during lessons due to the issue of our location for filming. All three of us knew this would lead to an after school session, and I was the one to organise days and times, I did not mind this as I knew it would lead to the work being completed and allowing us time to edit.

As a group I think we all took an equal role and worked well together. All three of us got on very well and we all considered each others ideas resulting in no disputes. I feel we were very organised in arranging time after school to film and also booking the cameras out for these sessions, and the productive use of this time.
